A Pin is only useful if it is accurate. The Pin Accuracy Policy lists the specific fields owners must keep current: business name, address, contact details, service area, hours, pricing claims, credentials, licensing claims, and emergency information. Inaccurate Pins are subject to flagging, hiding, or correction under the Content Moderation Policy.
It applies to every Pin owner and to the Map.ca staff who handle accuracy reports. Where a Pin is making a credential or licensing claim that cannot be verified, the claim is removed; the rest of the Pin stays.
Requirements
- Keep the public-facing fields on your Pin accurate and up to date.
- Verify credential or licensing claims before publishing them.
- Respond to accuracy reports within a documented timeline.
Prohibitions
- Do not list unverifiable credential or licensing claims.
- Do not advertise pricing on a Pin that violates the Pricing Transparency Policy.
- Do not ignore accuracy reports from neighbours or municipalities.
