Content Moderation Policy

How content is reviewed, when it is hidden, when it is removed, and how decisions are appealed.

Moderation on Map.ca is layered, not binary. The Content Moderation Policy defines the action ladder — warning, hide, limit, remove, escalate — the categories that skip warnings (child endangerment, threats, doxxing, fraud), the human-reviewer requirement for irreversible actions, and the documentation each action carries so the appeals path can work.

It applies to Map.ca moderators, the AI moderation tooling, anyone reporting content, and Pin owners whose content is moderated.

Requirements

  • Follow the documented action ladder.
  • Document the reason for every action.

Prohibitions

  • Do not take irreversible action without human review.
  • Do not moderate without leaving an appealable record.
