Events Policy

How Event Pins are created, hosted, moderated, age-gated, and removed when they end or violate standards.

Events bring people together in physical space. That makes them powerful, useful, and — if mishandled — a vector for fraud, harassment, and child-safety risk. The Events Policy defines what counts as an Event Pin, who the responsible organizer is, the age-appropriate-setting requirements, the moderation posture during and after the event, the rules for events at sensitive locations, and the post-event lifecycle.

It applies to event organizers, attendees, Pin owners hosting events, the Map.ca community team, and any partner co-hosting events on Map.ca.

Requirements

  • Identify the responsible organizer clearly on every event.
  • Respect age-appropriate settings on events involving minors.
  • Remove past events from active discovery on a documented cadence.
  • Route abuse reports through the Community Standards path.

Prohibitions

  • Do not list events used for fraudulent purposes.
  • Do not list events at sensitive locations without explicit consent.
  • Do not allow impersonation of organizations as event hosts.
  • Do not retain attendee data beyond the event-data retention period.
