Competition and Marketing Compliance Policy

How Map.ca's marketing, ranking, and discovery practices stay aligned with the Competition Act and Competition Bureau guidance.

The Competition Act and Competition Bureau guidance set the regulatory floor for marketing claims, comparison advertising, ordinary-price representations, and reviews. The Competition and Marketing Compliance Policy applies that floor to Map.ca’s own marketing and to the marketing claims Pin owners and partners make on Map.ca surfaces.

It applies to the Map.ca marketing team, the legal review function, Pin owners making marketing claims on Map.ca, and partners co-marketing with Map.ca.

Requirements

  • Substantiate marketing claims before publication.
  • Disclose material connections in comparative or testimonial content.

Prohibitions

  • Do not make unsubstantiated performance or comparison claims.
  • Do not present paid placements as organic content.
